Propeller Plant is a succulent with thick, grayish-green leaves arranged in a spiral around upright stems. Their opposing shape resembles a propeller. Mature plants may develop clusters of tiny red flowers during summer. Its geometric foliage suits sunny windows and succulent collections. It is easy to maintain when given strong light, fast-draining soil, and complete drying between waterings.

Light requirements
Propeller Plant needs bright, direct light from 250 to 1000 μmol·m⁻²·s⁻¹.
Give it 6+ hours of direct sun each day. Place it within 2 ft / 60 cm of a south or southwest-facing window.
Provide an unobstructed sky view. In hot direct sun, afternoon shade can prevent scorching.
Use grow lights during winter when daylight hours are shorter. Low light causes stretched growth.
A PAR meter or PAR meter app can measure photosynthetically active radiation as PPFD (μmol·m⁻²·s⁻¹).
Watering
Let Propeller Plant soil dry completely before watering. Test at multiple depths with a knitting needle or chopstick because moisture may remain below a dry surface.
Use room temperature rainwater, distilled water, or reverse osmosis water.
Water deeply until excess leaves through the drainage holes. Allow the pot to drain completely before returning it to a saucer or decorative planter.
A container with drainage holes is essential. Constant wetness can cause root and stem rot, while extreme drought may create dry or shriveled leaf edges.
Water considerably less during winter when active growth slows. Never keep the succulent on a fixed frequent schedule.
Soil
Use an organic succulent potting mix with fast drainage and plenty of coarse material. Propeller Plant roots should not remain wet for long.
DIY mix: combine 2 parts coir, 2 parts coarse sand, and 1 part pumice.
Pair the mix with an open drainage hole.
Feeding
Apply an organic fertiliser made for succulents every 2 to 4 weeks from March to October. Use the directed strength and feed damp soil. Do not add extra fertiliser to force faster growth or flowering. Stop routine feeding in winter.
Temperature & humidity
Propeller Plant prefers 60 to 80 °F / 15 to 27 °C. Protect it from prolonged cold and damp conditions. Humidity between 40 and 50% is suitable, and ordinary indoor air is usually adequate.
What to expect
Propeller Plant matures in roughly 2 to 3 years. It reaches 1 to 2 ft / 30 to 60 cm tall. Its eventual spread is about 12 to 18 inches / 30 to 45 cm. Growth forms an upright succulent clump.
Varieties & cultivars
C. perfoliata var. minor: A smaller variety with the same propeller-like foliage and red flowers.
C. falcata ‘Ivory Pagoda’: This compact form has a tiered structure and ivory-colored leaves.
C. falcata ‘Red Pagoda’: Similar in shape to ‘Ivory Pagoda’, but its leaves turn vivid red under bright light.
