Gollum Jade is a branching evergreen succulent with several sturdy stems. Its thick leaves are long, tubular and finger-like, giving the plant its distinctive character. Stored water in the foliage helps it withstand dry periods. With age, the stems become more tree-like. It is suited to bright indoor rooms and growers who prefer watering deeply but infrequently.

Light requirements
Gollum Jade grows best with bright, indirect light at 150 to 250 μmol·m⁻²·s⁻¹.
Set the plant about 5 ft / 1.5m from a south, west or east-facing window.
Avoid giving the foliage a direct view of the sky. A sheer curtain can filter sunlight that reaches the leaves.
Intense direct rays may scorch the tubular tips. Poor light can cause weak, stretched growth.
Measure photosynthetically active radiation with a PAR meter or PAR meter app, using PPFD in μmol·m⁻²·s⁻¹.
Watering
Allow Gollum Jade soil to dry completely before the next watering. Check the lower mix with a knitting needle or chopstick rather than judging only by the surface. Soil clinging to the tool indicates remaining moisture.
Use room temperature rainwater, distilled water or reverse osmosis water.
Soak the pot until water exits through the drainage holes. Let it empty fully before placing it in a saucer or decorative planter.
Drainage holes are essential. Persistent moisture may cause root rot, soft stems and dropping leaves.
Water considerably less in winter when growth is limited. If drought lasts too long during active growth, leaves may wrinkle or develop dry tips.
Soil
Gollum Jade needs a specialty organic succulent potting mix with rapid drainage. Its fleshy leaves store water, so dense soil creates unnecessary root risk.
DIY mix: blend 2 parts coir, 2 parts coarse sand and 1 part pumice.
Use a draining container and never compress the mixture heavily.
Feeding
Apply an organic succulent fertiliser every 2 to 4 weeks from March to October. Feed Gollum Jade at the recommended strength and only after watering. Avoid heavy applications or attempts to force faster growth. Stop regular feeding during winter.
Temperature & humidity
Keep Gollum Jade between 55 and 80°F / 13 and 27°C. Its preferred humidity range is 40 to 50%. Avoid cold drafts and long periods of damp, stagnant air. Normal household humidity generally suits this drought-adapted succulent.
What to expect
Gollum Jade matures in 3 to 5 years and develops slowly to moderately. Its eventual height is 1 to 2 ft / 30 to 60 cm. A mature plant spreads about 12 to 18 in / 30 to 45 cm.
